Port Melbourne has seen some pretty amazing restaurants and cafes open over the last few years, and Hurricane Handsome has been no different. Located along the bustling Bay Street, this corner cafe has a constant flow of diners throughout the day.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

This is a great location for those with families as there is ample room to move around with a pram and little ones. The space is bright and airy with pops of colour coming through the vibrant chairs and hints of greenery hanging from the ceiling.

The space is quite large with both a coffee bar area with a few high top bar tables, plus a separate dining area with ample seating.

I found the service a bit hit and miss today. I was confused with whether I was supposed to order at the bar and take a number, or find my own seat. I waited a bit, before I decided to seat myself and wait for someone to come to the table. I looked over the menu and after a decent wait, I decided to go to the bar and order my food. Once at the bar, I was told to sit down and wait for someone to come to the table. Bit confusing and frustrating if you ask me!

FOOD

The menu is quite extensive with a range of breakfast and lunch dishes available for all tastes. There is even a small kiddies menu, which offers a decent range of dishes to choose from.

Although it was lunch, I had missed breakfast, so decided to go with some eggs for a bit of fuel to power through the day. I started with a refreshing ‘Homemade Iced Tea’ served with fresh berries, followed by the ‘Chilli Scrambler’ served with truffle oil, chilli, chorizo, Spanish onion, cherry tomatoes and feta, served on a crusty baguette. There wasn’t much of a chilli flavour, however loved the hint of truffle flavour and the delicious flavour from the chorizo.

Although the food was tasty and the location was great, I found the service a bit confusing and inattentive.
