We visited Furano one year to mix up our annual snow trip to Japan. Its a big contrast to Niseko and the western crowd there. Furano pushed our Japanese language skills to the limit but it was well worth it.

As Furano isn’t a tourist hot spot like Hirafu or Rusutsu, accommodation wasn’t an easy decision. We settled on the Natulux Hotel. Located within walking distance from the train station its a boutique hotel with Onsen and a small restaurant.

The hotel itself is quite small with cramped rooms but this is very much the trend anywhere in Japan. There are many room options from a casual double up to a Supreme Twin. Each room has a bathroom with bath/shower combo, vanity and toilet, with the larger rooms separating the three. We stayed in a casual twin on this trip.

There is also a new annex called Bettei, these are more like little villas. There are two available 101 and 102 with capacity for 2-3 and 2-4 beds respectively. These are joined to the hotel via a 20 metre passage.

Our stay was enjoyable with the hotel staff going above and beyond in our stay. It was great to see such effort put into any enquiry we had, dinner recommendations and struggling through our terrible Japanese.

If you are out Furano way Natulux is highly recommended.
