I’m really starting to love living south of the city as I’m finding so many amazing little hidden neighbourhood gems I wouldn’t have been able to find otherwise. A sunny Sunday morning lead us to Cheltenham to this quaint little cafe nestled in a quiet neighbourhood.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

Opening their doors in late 2011, this family run cafe is located in the heart of Bayside. Nestled between mature oversized trees, the cafe offers a generous outdoor seating space, which connects through to their bright, airy indoor cafe.

You feel right at home or at least like one of the locals from the moment you step foot on the property.  The large grey building is settled behind the abundance of greenery, creating a welcoming, relaxed vibe. Inside, white walls, polished concrete floors and black accents follow through the space. Pops of colour are seen through fresh florals on the tables, more gorgeous greenery and a few small photos.

A beautiful old fireplaces sits at the back of the cafe, perfect for those chilly Melbourne mornings. The service was friendly from everyone we interacted with and coffee/food arrived quickly, given how busy it was.

FOOD

We started our morning with coffee (of course), which was delicious. I love my morning coffee fix and this one did not fail us, smooth, creamy and just the right temperature.

I have been craving eggs the last few days, so seeing the ‘Omelette’ on the menu was an instant order for me. Served with spinach, cheese and tomato and sourdough toast, I was loving the generous portion size and the amount of ingredients used. Nothing’s worse than ordering an omelette which is all egg and no veggies!

MC surprised me this morning and ordered something other than the typical big brekky. ‘French Toast’ with banana, berry compote, mascarpone, maple syrup and a side of bacon started his morning. Two pieces of toast, soaked in delicious syrup, topped with caramelised banana and berries, what more could you really ask for!

Overall, I was so glad we found The Parlor Cafe! The food was simple yet delicious, the service was friendly and welcoming and absolutely loved the location and atmosphere. No doubt we will be heading back in the near future.
