Our weekend away started at the beautiful Murray Street Vineyard. This small quaint estate was everything you would imagine for an ‘off the beaten track’ secluded vineyard. We pulled into the stone driveway to find only one other car there. Our mission for the weekend was to find small micro wineries instead of the big name establishments, and we were off to a pretty good start.

A rustic stone building lined with bright green hedges welcomes, with a small patch leading you to their outdoor private tasting area. Once out back, you have entered a peaceful tasting sanctuary with a beautiful view of the vineyard.

It was a beautifully sunny day with not a cloud in the sky so we made use of the outdoor terrace area with an unobstructed view of the vineyard. A large wooden picnic table stands alone, which seats I’d say 12-14 people easily. A row of wine glasses were already placed in front of each seat and once seated tasting menus were presented.

Our sommelier was extremely well knowledged with all the wines, was very friendly and could tell he truly enjoyed what he did. We spent the better part of an hour sipping delicious full bodied reds under the spring sun before purchasing some wines and moving on.

Murray Street Vineyard was exactly what we were after in terms of a small winery. The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed, which was the perfect way to start our tour. I’ve recommended Murray Street to so many friends and family since having been there and will continue to recommend!
