I was after a quick lunch and much needed caffeine fix after an appointment in the area so did a quick search for something nearby. Milkboy Espresso came up with some decent reviews so thought I would pop in and check out what they had to offer. Located near Cheltenham train station I can see this as a regular hot spot for many locals.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

This vintage, hipster style cafe screams everything Melbourne has to offer. From old school records hanging on the timber and white walls, the contrasting polished concrete flooring and the modern hanging pendent lights, each element has been designed to create a funky vintage vibe.

Owned by a group of guys, the feel of the space is quite masculine (and a bit dark), especially with the added pop of colour from the skateboards and vintage trinkets.

It was a quiet afternoon when I arrived, with only a few other tables finishing up while I was taking a seat. Their coffee takeaway window seems to do quite well with a constant flow orders. The boys were friendly and attentive with the coffee and food orders, leaving you at peace to enjoy your meal.

FOOD

Here you will find all your brekky favourites with a few all-day lunch options to choose from. I started with my usual Piccolo, which was delicious, creamy and just what I needed to push through the rest of the day. This was followed by a tasty ‘Chili Smash’ with smashed avocado on rye bread and a side of bacon. Although a bit on the small side, it packed a whole lot of flavour.

Overall, this was a great little find. It was a quiet neighbourhood gem with great food, delicious coffee and friendly service.
