Came here on a Saturday morning and there were very few tables available. Since it was so busy we decided to sit on one of their long communal tables as it was a bit too chilly to sit outside.

FOOD

They offer a beautiful menu variety of homey type dishes with a healthy flare to them. We started the morning with some strong coffees, which definitely woke us up!

I was looking for something a bit different from my usual poached eggs on toast, so decided to go with the ‘Smashed Avo’ with heirloom tomatoes, sheep’s milk feta, soy & quinoa toast and a beautiful lemon thyme dressing. The bread was a bit on the hard and dry side, however the amount of avocado definitely made up for it!

We also ordered the ‘Chilli Poppin Daddy’, which was scrambled eggs, chilli, chorizo, semi dried tomatoes all on sourdough toast and their head poppin’ chilli sauce. The creative name definitely got our attention and had to try it as we love our chilli. There was a generous serve of scrabbled eggs, however it did lack the chilli flavour we were looking for in the dish. There were small hints of it, however with a name like this, I would have expected more chilli flavour.

ATMOSPHERE

Cafe Domain has a rustic meets old barn vibe to it. Some may think that it’s outdated and is in need of a face lift, however the character of the old display cabinets, old hanging lights and old wooden tables work well with their homey menu and baked pastries and cakes on display.

The space is inviting with warm lighting and features works from local Australian artists. Bench seating is tucked away in the back corner for those looking to have an intimate meal.

SERVICE

The service here is very friendly and relaxed. You order from the bar so this does limit the interaction with the staff, however the bar staff are extremely friendly and knowledge with the menu. There was always someone walking around the restaurant to ensure everything is okay and clearing plates where needed.

Overall the food, service and location are all fantastic. This cafe is definitely worth checking out and will have to come back to try their $5 happy hour specials throughout the week.
