With a few nights in Brisbane for work, we were after something quick and simple to satisfy our hunger from a long days work. MC had been to Buffalo Bar before, and being a short walk from our hotel, thought we would give it a go.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

Centrally located in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, this beautiful heritage listed Edwardian building houses the popular American style restaurant and bar. The entrance is a bit confusing as you need to walk around the side of the building, however once inside, you find yourself in the American themed bar area. Concrete floors, high bar tables and of course, an American flag fill this outdoor bar space.

Making our way inside, there are two more dining space to choose from. The more formal dining room, plus the indoor sophisticated bar area. We opted for the dining room as it had a bit more of a vibe for our late Wednesday night feed.

Old wooden floor boards, exposed lighting and booth seating fill the dining room with an old world charm feel. The service was friendly, however a bit inattentive at times, which was a bit frustrating given it wasn’t that busy.

FOOD

The food here is your typical American comfort food, with everything from hot wings to juicy burgers and beef short ribs. MC loves his wings, so it was a must to start with an order of their ‘Original Buffalo Wet Wings’, served with ranch dipping sauce & celery. I’m more of a dry wing lover, however the flavour from the buffalo sauce was amazing and not overly hot, which I loved.

For mains, I went with the ‘Lionel Sternberger’, which was a cheese burger with a 6oz wagyu beef pattie (cooked medium rare), bacon rashes, US cheddar, pickles, house ketchup, mustard, jalapeno mayo. The beef pattie was so juicy that the juices were just dripping from the burger! The jalapeno mayo was sweet with a hit of spice, and the house made ketchup and mustard tasted just like that from America.

MC went with the ‘Big Bird’, which was a buffalo fried chicken burger w bacon, onion rings, ranch & lettuce. Again another juicy pattie, dripping with buffalo hot sauce and the sweetness from the onion rings brought the burger to a perfect 10!

This was a great find on MC’s part. The food was simple, yet delicious, the service friendly and the atmosphere brought us back to our American adventures.
