We had spent a few nights in Brisbane for work and were after a quick breakfast close to where we were working. I did a quick search and found a cute little cafe that had everything we were after (coffee & food!). Being one of four (other locations at Emporium, Brisbane Markets & Tennyson), I figured it must be decent.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

We arrived to a large airy cafe with light wooden floors, large communal high top tables and ample smaller tables scattered throughout. Green accents caught the eye from the large cabinets as well as dark light fixtures added a wonderful contrast to the white walls and ceiling.

I didn’t realise until we left, but there is also a covered outdoor area with more seating. Even in winter, the space was full with people enjoying the warm sun and fresh air.

I find cafes in Brisbane a lot more laid back than you would find in Melbourne. The service was quite relaxed, with orders taken at the counter, which reduced the welcoming vibe you get from interacting with your waiter.

FOOD

The menu focuses on healthy breakfast options including all your favourites of eggs your way, muesli, pancakes, plus a whole list of freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. MC ordered the ‘Eggs Benedict’ with sautéed spinach, two soft poached eggs, house-made Hollandaise served on toasted ciabatta with a side of bacon and hallumi.

There were so many delicious options to choose from, but decided to stick to my guns and go with the ‘Bircher Muesli’ with vanilla yoghurt, crushed nuts and fresh berries. The portion size was perfect, the bircher was creamy from the yoghurt and loved how fresh the berries were!

Overall breakfast was good. The food was tasty, the service was friendly and loved the homey feel of the space.
