Back by popular demand, this Saturday 21st of February, the city comes to life for the third annual White Night event in Melbourne. Inspired by Pairs Nuit Blanche, an international event of White Night programs across 20 major cities worldwide has taken off, each with their own interpretation. From sunset till sunrise, hundreds of thousands will flood the street and enjoy a night celebration of music, dance, good eats, fashion and arts.
2014 proved to be another success with more than 300,000 attendees in the heart of Melbourne, so it’s no wonder it’s back for a third time around. Festival goers will flock Melbourne’s streets attending free and ticketed events for all age groups. Here you will find street performances, light shows, film screenings and concerts (just to name a few).
- 9 dining precincts – Shops between Calton and St Kilda Road will be keeping their doors open late serving up your favourite dishes
- Sita’s Garden – Giant lotus leaves and pontoons lighting up the Yarra River
- 4 Elements – a light installation from Portuguese company OCUBO
- The Big Chill – short films shown throughout all the night
The full music line up was released last week featuring many local and interstate talents. For all the details on current line up and list of events happening in the CBD, head to the White Night website for the most up to day details.
There will be 9 different precincts that will be open throughout the night to serve you all your favourites. From well known restaurants like MoVida, to cafes and cupcake shops, you can find almost anything at any hour to satisfy your late night cravings.
The City of Melbourne has extended all trams and trains to run throughout the night, every 30 minutes, to ensure all guests make their way home safely.
