There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews around Moto Cafe, so thought it was best to pop in and check out first hand what this funky cafe has to offer. Located on the busy Nepean Highway and within a short walk to Carrum Beach, I can see a lot of foot traffic coming through, especially during the warmer months.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

Given its location, this is one of the ‘funkier’ cafes, and definitely something you wouldn’t normally see. With a biker theme, it was walking into an episode of Sons of Anarchy, yet sadly no Jax Teller to be seen. Classic memorabilia hung from the black and white walls and dark polished concrete floors create a more modern feel.

Behind the bar the walls are busy with classic bike photos running from floor to ceiling, retro style lighting and an uber cool mint green vintage cash register.

I also love how they have a large outdoor area, ideal for the warmer months. Large benches fill the sandy space, which is also dog friendly!

The service was a bit sparse with orders taking a while to happen, however most of the staff were generally quite friendly. Food did take a while to arrive and we did also have to ask for refills of our water. Maybe an off day for the team?

FOOD

The breakfast menu is limited with only a handful of options to choose from and only served until 12pm, which is a bummer for those who are late risers! We started our morning with our first of many coffees, which was creamy and delicious.

MC ordered his usual big brekky with poached eggs, tomato, bacon, spinach, mushroom and a potato rosti. All delicious, cooked well, but could have used a pinch more salt. Nothing to complain about!

I went for the ‘Moto Scrambled’ served with bacon, feta, cherry tomatoes, and crushed chilli. I was quite happy with my selection, it was the perfect portion size and seasoned well.

Overall we had a great lunch. Although the service wasn’t top notch, the atmosphere was lively and the food was great. Wouldn’t mind heading back on a warmer day and sitting outside!
