After hearing great things about Hahndorf, we thought we would visit before heading back to the airport. We roamed the streets of the small German town and stumbled across the Hahndorf Inn Hotel. With no one there, we thought we would stop in for a quick drink before heading off to some wineries. As I’m not a big beer lover, I opted for a glass of Sauv Blanc, enjoyed in the beautiful sunshine.

This was the perfect way to start our Sunday. Hahndorf is one of Adelaide’s tourist destinations, famous for their German heritage. So it’s no surprise they have a massive beer hall located in the centre of the town focusing on authentic German cuisine & beer.

Once we got our wine tasting out of the way, we somehow found ourselves back here for lunch. The space was completely jam-packed, which I was amazed by as I was thinking there was no way they could fill the entire inside, front and side patio areas. I was clearly wrong here! We made our rounds looking for a table outside as it was such a beautiful day, and were lucky enough to jump on a table as someone was just leaving.

Being a German restaurant, it was only fitting to both go with a schnitzel. I got the ‘Chicken Schnitzel’ served with chips and vegetables and MC got the ‘Beef Schnitzel’ served with chips and salad. Both were a generous portion size and were authentic schnitzels.

If this wasn’t German enough for you, then how about massive jars of mustard located throughout the venue!

I absolutely adore this place. With my hubby having been to Germany before, he said this was the perfect way to get a taste for what Germany is really like. I highly recommend heading here for an afternoon of beer and meat!
