D.O.C has been on my list of places to go to for some time now. After hearing great things, it was finally time to check it out. We headed here late on a Thursday evening, hoping that we wouldn’t have to wait for a table. On arrival, there were a few tables available inside the restaurant, however we spotted one last available table outside on the back terrace area and thought that would be perfect.

FOOD

We sat down and order drinks straight away. After noticing it was taking a while for our drinks to come, we decided to have a look at the menu and would be ready to order when the waiter returned.  I’m not sure if they offer daily specials as we weren’t told of any before ordering, which was a bit disappointing.

DOC

We started with the mixed salumi board with fresh mozzarella. The presentation was artistic and the portion size was decent. We were also given warm pizza bread, which we used to wrap the cured meats around to bring out the beautiful flavours. The quality of the meats were what you’d expect from an authentic Italian eatery, top notch!

DOC3

We also ordered the Pizza Daniele, which was also very delicious. Again the dough cooked to perfection and just the right amount of toppings on this one. The prosciutto and cheese worked very well together, complimenting each others flavours.  The sizes of the pizzas were perfect, anything larger and it would have been too much.

SERVICE

The service was very friendly; however it did take quite a while to get our drinks. They have Italian staff working who speak to each other loudly in their mother tongue, which really adds to the overall experience of the authentic Italian eatery. I would have probably suggested an extra staff to work as it seemed they were running around a bit to get orders out from the kitchen & bar.

ATMOSPHERE

When you walk through the door, it’s like walking straight into Italy. The beautiful smell of pizza cooking in the roaring pizza oven is a perfect way to be welcomed into a restaurant. The restaurant itself was a bit noisy, however exactly what you would want to hear from a good restaurant! Table settings are simple and decor was very homey.

I can see why the lineup is out the door on most nights. The food is something that should be shared by all.
