Out with the old, in with the new is exactly what Sarti did earlier this year. With the departure of their old head chef, Sarti took this as the perfect opportunity to revamp the restaurant, both inside and out. A new bright red neon sign attracts your attention from the end of the chic laneway as your walking past. Head through the custom-made red French doors and make your way up the stairs where you are welcomed with a New York 50’s style Italian restaurant.

With custom designed cast iron table bases, dark wood table tops finished with a red accent strip, funky blue glassware and mismatched plates, Sarti has removed the old school white table linens to make the restaurant a more casual setting.

MENU

The menu speaks for itself. A contemporary twist on all your favourite traditional Italian dishes can be found here. The menu is based around shared dishes called ‘Stuzzichini’ in Italian. A fantastic way to get a good taste of a few different options!

Sarti3

Salumi – a selection of dried meats; Prosciutto, Wagyu Bresaola, Mortadella, Salami – served with gnoochi fritti. What you do is wrap the dried meat on the warm gnocchi fritti to bring out the flavours of the meats.

Mozzarella Roll – with cured ocean trout, mascarpone, avocado, Avruga Caviar. (above photo)

Being Italian, pasta is obviously my favourite dish to be served! The pasta’s served here are INCREDIBLE! Leave it to the chef to create some beautiful and tasteful dishes.

Tortelli Al Caprino – Goat cheese filled pasta with baby beetroot and pine nuts. I’m not usually a beetroot fan, but the combination of the ingredients work very well together. A small, but very tasty pasta dish. Definitely worth a try. (below photo)

Rotolo D’Anatra – Duck roll pasta with field mushrooms – My absolute favourite! I order it almost every time we come for dinner. The amount of time and patients that goes into making this dish is unbelievable.

Dolci is the best part of the night! Some of my favourite traditional Italian desserts are served here, with a touch of innovation.

Homemade Cannoli – it’s not on the menu, but if you’re lucky enough to ask for one, the kitchen may just have prepped some that morning as a special! (below photo)

Strawberry Parcel – A mixture of mini coconut panna cotta, marshmallow and a strawberry semifreddo. Amazing combination of strawberry, coconut and marshmellow all rolled into one dessert.

SERVICE

For those looking for a great function space, Sarti has the capacity to host small and large events up to 200 in a cocktail style setting. There is a beautiful outdoor rooftop area which is used year round. Although located in the middle of the CBD, being on the rooftop takes you away from the noise of street walkers, trams and traffic. It’s truly an oasis that not many people are familiar with yet.

The food is divine and the service is out of this world. Anyone who comes in for dinner is treated like a VIP. If you’ve been here more than once, guarantee the staff will remember your name and your favourite cocktail or glass of wine. This is a high recommendation in my books and will continue to visit on a regular basis.
