I’ve been here on two separate occasions, and the overall food and service has been wonderful. On our most recent visit, we were a party of 5 looking for a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening. We were able to get a last minute booking at 7pm and were pleasantly surprised to walk in and be able to be seated straight away.

FOOD

On both occasions, I found the food to be excellent with a good variety to choose from on the menu. As we weren’t overly hungry just two of our party ordered an entree of ‘Eye fillet of beef tartare’ with waldorf salad and gaufrette potatoes. Presentation was beautiful and was full of flavour. The tartare paired with the Waldorf salad and gaufrette worked beautifully together and all the flavours accompanied each other quite well.

I ordered the ‘Button Mushroom Pie’ with baby artichokes and asparagus. When presented to the table, you are given the plate with the artichoke, potatoes and asparagus and the waitress places the top of the pie crust on your plate and dishes out the amazing mushroom and gravy mixture. This definitely caught the attention by the rest of the table and left them wanting the same.

The mushrooms were a bit on the salty side, however still jam packed with flavour. The potatoes were amazing and the greens were cooked to perfection.

MC ordered the ‘O’Connor premium grass fed beef rib eye’ with smoked potato and brown mushrooms. Again cooked to perfect with just the right amount of jus and the potatoes were perfectly creamy and smooth.

Since it was a special occasion, it was only fitting to order dessert. The ‘Caramelised banana gateau’ with pecan ice cream and spiced rum instantly caught my attention and didn’t need to ready any further. It was a beautiful presentation and the highlight of the dish for me was the pecan ice cream; it was so creamy and delicious!

SERVICE

On both occasion the service has been of the highest quality. We were greeted as soon as we enter and taken to our seats. Our waitress was friendly, professional, attentive and definitely understood the quality of service expected at a French Restaurant. Our water glasses were always full, and it didn’t take long for our bottle of wine to arrive.

ATMOSPHERE

Noir is a small French restaurant with only a hand full of tables, which makes the experience more exclusive. The tables are positioned in such a way that each couple or group are facing away from each other for a more private dinner experience.

Beautiful wooden tables and dark leather high back chairs fill the space with a few booths available for larger groups. The rest of the decor in the restaurant is simple french decor with romantic touches. I especially liked how the music isn’t overly loud so you can enjoy conversations while dining.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Noir to others and will definitely be back in the future.
