After two weeks of traveling, it was time to get back into our Sunday routine. As it was one of the first nice days of Spring, we decided to find somewhere we could sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Just off Chapel Street, we found a beautiful single story terrace house with a white picket fence and a super cute exterior. We had to check it out!

ATMOSPHERE

This is your ultimate cosy house restaurant with beautiful hardwood floors, neutral walls, and high ceilings. They have left the character of the Victorian style house, however have revamped the space with chic lighting, a beautiful wooden bar and colourful artwork hung throughout the space.

Just past the white picket fence, you are welcomed by a small front porch area, which I can only imagine being full during the warm sunny days. After walking through the front entrance, the inside space is more spacious than expected with an open concept area and a few tables scattered around the beautiful feature fireplace.

Walk past the bar to the beautiful folding doors that lead you onto the courtyard. Again another space that was much larger than anticipated. The entrance to the back courtyard area features a few small intimate tables of two along a pretty green wall of Astroturf.

FOOD

As the cafe only serves breakfast and lunch, they offer an all-day breakfast for the late risers like us. By the time we made our way out, it was nearly lunch, so we decided to mix it up and go with a salad and pancakes (good combination right?).

I opted for the ‘Smoked Chicken Salad’ with shaved pecorino, baby cos, crispy pancetta and house french dressing. The salad was quite fresh with a generous amount of chicken and pecorino. Definitely a great way to start the day for me!

Our little one ordered the ‘Blueberry Pancakes’ which were sitting in a bed of lemon curd. Pancakes at 1:30pm? Why not! You only live once right.

Finally out to come was the ‘Sliced Steak Sandwich’ with roasted roma tomatoes, carmelised onion, relish, mixed leaves and hand cut chips. Perfect portion size to satisfy! The chips are twice cooked for an extra crunch and garnished with rosemary, sea salt and a creamy aioli sauce to dip.

SERVICE

The service matches the atmosphere of the restaurant, friendly and inviting. The staff here know how to get the job done without interrupting you during your meal. As they do allow dogs on their front porch, they ensure even the dogs are happy and have water to drink while you’re eating.

Will I be back? Most definitely! The food was simple, yet tasty and the atmosphere was welcoming.
