Sunday mornings are my favourite mornings to head out for a long breakfast and try somewhere new we have yet to check off our list. I’ve driven passed Hobba so many times and kept saying that we needed to check it out, but just never got around to it. Thankfully, today was the day we finally got to make our way there.

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

Located along the quieter end of Malvern Road, Hobba is a beautiful warehouse style cafe with exposed brick walls, high ceilings and exposed wooden beams. Potted plants are scatted throughout the cafe, along with fairy lights hung across the wooden beams, to give the space a more relaxed feel.

From the outside, the space looks quite small, however moving inside, I was amazed at how big it actually was. A mix of high top tables, cafe style seating and communal booths fill the indoor space, plus a few tables located outside along High Street. Funky artwork is displayed along the brick walls, which adds some colour to the industrial style fit out.

Although the service was friendly, it was a bit slow at times. Considering how busy it was, I understood why it took a while to get my order taken.

FOOD

The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch throughout the week, so naturally the menu is based around a delicious range of dishes from eggs, hot cakes (a must try!), french toast, to more substantial items like burgers, salads and even a kiddies menu.

Although I would have loved to try the hot cakes, which looked amazing, I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it, so instead decided on the ‘Bircher Muesli’ with house made raspberry yoghurt, plums and macadamia. I loved everything about this dish. From the slight tartness from the yoghurt, to the sweetness of the plums and macadamia, it was the prefect portion size to satisfy me.

The coffee was delicious as well, made from Five Senses coffee. It did take a bit for the coffee to arrive, however, was well worth the wait.

Overall, another great brekky spot to come back to. Although a bit further than where we usually go, I would definitely jump in the car and head back anytime. Possibly to check out their lunch menu!
